World Mental Health Day 2026
Lived experiences heard: why community-based care needs what happens between appointments, and how GenMind™ makes it visible to care teams.
October 10 marks World Mental Health Day. For 2026, the World Health Organization and the World Federation for Mental Health chose the theme: “Lived experiences heard: real voices, real change.”
It’s a call to recognize lived experiences as genuine expertise. Saying “we’re listening” is no longer enough. This expertise is exactly what is needed to build proper mental health systems in people’s lives, and in the communities they are in, such as community-based care. WHO’s Mental Health Atlas 2024 pointed out that fewer than 10% of countries have fully transitioned to community-based care models.
Community-based care brings mental health services directly to the people, increasing access while reducing isolation and stigma. It also relies on continuum of care beyond the clinic, because much of a person’s lived experience happens between appointments. Symptoms and daily functioning can change between appointments, and capturing it is key.
That is the gap we are targeting at Mindsigns Health™. Our remote platform GenMind™ supports symptom monitoring from a distance so day-to-day experiences are visible to care teams, informing decision-making.
We’re not just here to listen. We’re here to make a change. Technology built without the voices of lived experiences will miss things. As we grow, we will continue to learn from people with lived experiences, because real voices lead to real change.
